Friday with a, big slosh

Don't you just love school assemblies? I do. I had a call from a proud parent who came to pick me up with her husband and her friend. We toodled off to the East, were dropped off at the school, signed in at the office, then wandered out to the multipurpose the dripping wet and through the puddles. CC then scooted over across Florida to pick up grandma. There were only eleven little kindergartner girls. The rest of the stage was filled with boys, lots and lots of boys. An assignment had been given to the children to learn: the alphabet, count to 100 and to sing in both English and Spanish. Each success was rewarded with a colored construction paper feather to attach to the brown headband each wore. Some had a bunch. Our Superchick had one green one. Sometimes she wore it in the back, but most of the time it sat right over her forehead. Lively little ones shouted out (in melody) and did wild, in rhythm motions appropriately. Even her sister, Rapunzel was excused from computer class to attend. Then we in the audience were rewarded with pumpkin pie, whipped cream and apple juice.

Proud momma loaded us all into the van and made the rounds returning each to our designated places. Jailgy transferred me to her car in front of Ladybug's house and we took turkey noodle soup to ailing mother of four who had lost her voice somewhere. What a heyday my gang had when I couldn't talk (or scream). That little errand done we went to Jailgy's house to work on the quilts we are doing for the brides. First shower is January 19, the second somewhere in the middle of March. Enthusiastically we completed ALL the cutting for the first quilt.

It was in the late, late afternoon we learned of the catastrophe at the sewing shop. So how could we know the roof would leak? The owner was safely abroad in the Orient...Manager said it's Friday. So what? Can't do anything. The proceeded to say it wasn't her fault...what? the rain? When did managers stop managing? Schnicklefritz came to get me 7:30, had a bite to eat and then we went home in the rain to a very, very sad little poodle. He cried.

The sun is trying to shine. Hooray! Well, maybe we hope it isn't too successful, we still could use more rain.

  • Don't you just love managers who have executive power only when it suits them? She'll probably deny my claim and still deflect authority to act.

  • What a day! And hopefully the rain has cleared away without too much flooding.

  • I can send you a full size version of the cousins picture via e-mail if you want. The picture I posted has been resized, so quality would have been lost when framing it as an 8x10. Leave me a comment if you want a higher quality picture and I'll e-mail one.
